Workspace limits & fair use

Quantyl workspaces are designed for learning, exploration, and practical analytics workflows. To keep performance smooth, we apply fair-use limits on shared infrastructure.

Most learners will never notice these limits — they’re here to prevent accidental overload and keep things reliable.

Compute Boost is available

If you’re working with larger datasets, memory-heavy tasks, or demanding workloads, we can upgrade your workspace with extra RAM and (on higher tiers) dedicated CPU.

What to expect

Designed for learning first

Quantyl runs real RStudio in your browser. Workspaces are intended for lessons, exercises, projects, and practical analytics workflows — not long-running compute jobs or server-grade workloads.

The simple rule
If your session is mostly interactive (coding, plotting, exploring data), you’re in the sweet spot. If you’re running heavy jobs for a long time, you may need Compute Boost.
Fair-use limits

Soft limits we apply

  • Idle timeout
To free resources, inactive sessions may be paused or signed out after a period of inactivity.
  • One active workspace per user
This prevents accidental multiple sessions from consuming extra memory.
  • Shared performance
Workspaces are shared; brief slowdowns can occur during peak usage.
We keep these limits lightweight — most learners never notice them.
What we don’t support (yet)

Heavy compute workloads

  • Long-running jobs
Tasks that run for a long time without interaction (e.g., extended simulations).
  • Server-grade workloads
Always-on services, scraping farms, cryptocurrency mining, or similar.
  • Very large datasets
Datasets that require significant RAM beyond the standard workspace tier.
If you need any of the above, we can usually solve it with Compute Boost.
Compute Boost

When you should request an upgrade

Compute Boost is an optional add-on for users working with larger datasets or more demanding analyses. We’ll recommend a tier based on your workload.

Boost 4 GB RAM
Moderate datasets & coursework
Boost 8 GB RAM
Bigger projects & heavier analysis
Boost 16 GB + dedicated vCPU
Reserved capacity for demanding workloads
We keep things flexible early on — upgrades may be handled manually while Quantyl is growing.
